it's your fault

Subject: Engg Vs MgmtA man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost.He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me,can you help me?I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don'tknow where I am."The woman below replied,"You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above theground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and60 degrees west longitude.""You must be an engineer," said the balloonist."I am," replied the woman,"How did you know?""Well," answered the balloonist,"everything you told me is, technically correct, but I've no idea what tomake of your information, and the fact is I'm still lost.Frankly, you've not been much help at all.If anything, you've delayed my trip."The woman below responded, "You must be in Management.""I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?""Well," said the woman, "you don't know where you are or where you'regoing. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air.You made a promise which you've no idea how to Keep, and you expect peoplebeneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met,but now, somehow, it's my fault."

20 years wow

Greetings Paul,

Speaking of on the road again.......you're heading West? Hopefully some place more reasonable to live than California. Personally, with the costs and taxes here in Michigan I sure wouldn't make this my first choice.
There sure were a lot of memories from T-land. Some good, some not. Some things that were going on in the field I wish I had been aware of--but, in retrospect at least it was something to learn from. I try to follow the "if you can't say something good..." philosophy so I won't say too much about Thermotron but the last 3 years seem to have made the problems with that management theory finally have a major effect on their business. It surprises me that it takes so long for results to be seen from both good and bad things. I would expect quicker results.

It seems to work for us to be aware of the competition but not sell against them or even address them too much in our approach, just concentrate on the equipment and what we will do for the customer. I have come to learn that there are some bad customers, very few actually, but it's best just to walk away and leave those to someone else.

Of course I think we could use more service people but I can't argue against the volume numbers I see coming in. The trend is up but not by leaps and bounds so we're still in a holding pattern as far as adding people. I certainly think you would be an asset. We don't have a wild crew (unless I'm missing something again) but then how wild can one guy be? As we get older we get wiser.
To thine own self be true. (and to heck with the rest)

I hope the move works out well and keep in touch.

Best regards,
Tom

thermotron add

Hi Paul, I had to look several times to verify it was the same company we'd worked for in the past. That Unique Bonus System sounds like quite a carrot, doesn't it? Very interesting, but I don't think it will take too long for the newly hired to see the true colors. Hil

Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. 9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees! 6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. 2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. 1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.

Boy...was i wrong! & they were right ! Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2001 9:17 PM
Because i am teaching high school now it has re-opened my eyes..
opps.. wow.. i was wrong...!!
i guess the "business profile" for a successful environmental company has a
proven history..
(not like the e.com companies which failed)
ron wiley told me last year that his dad Bob wiley started espec..
and John tenbrink did say that "old Bob was as smart as a fox"
and it didn't matter if the equipment worked just get the customer to sign
off..
and tom bannash .. did brag .. that every one would believe his lies..
and he was highly successful.. lets make him a "president" i am sure he would
do just fine.
and Hil Sybesma told me he wasn't as big a thief as some guy as named
newville.. and that .. stealing wasn't wrong it was "working the system.
and the california thief's i worked with said.. it dosen't matter what you do
to anyone so long as you get away with it and blame it on somebody else
and the wonder-full fred plont... "come-on paul.. isn't every one a thief and
a lier?
and it's embarresing .. and here i thought i had a brain ?? oh well..
enjoy the following joke
At a Holland Dutch and Christian Reformed gathering, The superior Preacher
stacked a pile of apples on one.
Subject: Philosophy
Here's a lesson for all!
There once was a happy little fly buzzing around a barn one day, when she
happened upon a large pile of fresh cow manure. Since it had been hours since
her last meal and she was feeling hunger pangs, she flew down to the
irresistible delicacy and began to munch out.
She ate... and ate... and then . she ate some more!!!
Finally, she decided she'd had plenty. She washed her face with her tiny
front legs, belched a few times, then attempted to fly away. But alas...she
had pigged out far too much and could not get off the ground. She looked
around wondering what to do about this unpleasant situation when she spotted
a pitchfork leaning upright against the barn wall. She'd found
a solution!! She realized if she could just become airborne she'd be able to
fly again. So, she painstakingly, climbed to the top of the handle. Once
there, she took a deep breath, spread her tiny fly wings, and leaped
confidently into the air.
She dropped like a rock and splattered all over the floor...
Dead Fly....
The moral of this sad story?
"Never fly off the handle when you know you're full of shit.

how to clean a wiley cat

+++++ HOW TO WASH THE wiley CAT +++++

Thoroughly clean the toilet. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). Flush the toilet three or four times. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and runoutside where he will dry himself. Sincerely, The DOG

holland church bull shit

hey i guess i have to live it down..about your church teachings.. i'm glad tohear you are growing and enjoying the services.. i am sure it will get betterand better..because your church earnestly desires the presence of the HolySpirit.. to manafest .. and there is more go8ing on.. there are pictures inthe seattle revivle web page of peoples teeth being filled with gold.. and inHuston texas gold dust is manafesting on peoples hands and cloths..the consistant theme i have been seeing as i have been traveling .. is formsof doubt and unbelief.. and the daily opportunity to call upon the covenant toask God to heal people .. daily people need healing.. and it is common to hearthe complaint that they are not growing spiritually..and most don't pray intongues, and most have never fasted any leangth of time.. so the doubt andunbelief .. is well maintained.... so faith becomes an intangable substance..like a marrage without a wife..or a husben.. we are married to "Christ" Jesus.. and are called Christians.. but there isvery little Christ (anointed of God)(Yahweh) (Johov)manafestations..it was funny because i was talking to my sister about being in covenant withJohova .. and her daughter says Johova ? you mean like the Johova wittnesses? and i told her yes .. we are in covenant with the same God as the Johovawittnesses.. her being Catholic found it confusing..yes the same God but a different understanding.. of the relationship of Jesusand his devinity or lack of it as they believe..We with Jesus as our head have power and authorty over all sickness anddesease and devils and demons, as in matth 10;8, or luke 9;1,10;17 or thefamias mark 16;15-20..Jesus said these signs shall follow "belivers in me" and in my name , Jesusthey will command spiritual authorty.. so the Johova wittnesses don't command any spiritual authorty, and it'samasing to see how they over look scriptural truth and understanding..Hosea 4:6 says "my people parish because of lack of knowledge"It's like the 2 artical's i read in the Grand rapids press.. both explainingthe ministry to Gays and queers.. one a catholic nun group who was ordered byher superiors to stop ministering to them and making them confortable.. andthe other two Gay queers that once attended Jerry Farwells bible school andfelll in Love there.. both were telling how the Christian comunity hasrewjected them and made them feel like out siders.. DAHaaaa .. to me theproblem seem very "streight "forward as i learned and saw at Norvel haysbible school.. You don't counsol devils out you Cast them out" in the oldtestment gay queers were killed BECAUSE there was one one with AUTHORTY totake spiritual control .. with the New covenant we have regained Spiritualauthorty through the work of Jesus the Christ.. even without the Baptism ofthe HOly Spirit there is authorty in the name of Jesus, Luke 10:17 or in Mark9:38 " and John said Master we saw one casting out devils in thy name and hefollowed not us and we told him to stop.. because he wasn't in ourdomination.. Jesus said "forbid him not .. for there is no man which shall doa miracle in my name that can lightly speak evil of me..most people who call themselves don't believe thay have authorty..they think that they didn't receive that "GIFT" of the Holy Spirit.. where as in truth it is first the belief and faith in the authorty in the Nameof Jesus.. yes people who are followers can command authorty in the name ofJesus , and people who are not followers of Jesus can command authorty in thename of Jesus.. they can do this without the Baptism of the Holy Spirit..andin truth most people do function with out the baptism of the Holy Spirit.. and most people do function without belivijng in the authorty and the commandthat comes in the name of Jesus,..how many devils have you cast out of some one in need ?? as in the case ofthe GAy Queers.. it's obvious they there is such a lack of spiritualunderstanding and authority.. that the devils are winning.. they haveconvinced the Church goers.. of their lack of authory, and spiritualunderstanding..now it's time to get off this soap box..

hello.. yes teaching school last year and this year was refreshing, some days it was hard but man oh man.. on the growing number of good days, it was great teaching elementary students 3rd and 4th grade..Teaching them science , math, language arts.. etc.. teaching middle school was tougher.. some times you had to go in mean and stay mean all day.. What do you mean 15 years in the chanber business.. you got 20 years all the way.. .. don't you remember you replaced ..bob wiley.. and your job included giving me a review .. where you said i need to get along better with the embesslers and the bar flys .. (Dick Alverson later told me were back stabing me .. but he said he knew it was a lie..)i guess this is why old Bob is as smart as a fox.. don't let thes people teach or train your children.. because they will end up like the theves and murders i worked with in California.. As Hil Sybesma said to me .. Banish found it hard to pull the wool over my eyes because i didn't believe his lies.. and Hil said he had the same problem that Tom has..(and they went to each others church) Hil said he wants to be able to lie, cheat, steal, and slander people .. but he still wants people to like him... He like many other theves i have worked with is Not on my Christmas card list. realisticly .. a lot of these people need to go to prison.. no joke.. but i was talking to another company lately.. and i told him that Thermotron was a Cut-throat company (i didn't show him my scars) and that their salesmen were taught to do anything to get the sale(and that dan o'keff liked starving used car salesman). I also told him that a couple people called me a back stabber.. because i complained that they whey weren't showing up on the job site and falsefying work documents.. So i told him i have enemies there.. heck a man is made known by his enemies.. He Laughed .. and said every one in this business is a back stabber.. So as you see Tom Patterson i don't pull any punches.. I told him Thermotron became confused on their priorities.. and as Dean Tripp said it no longer mattered if you did a good job or a bad work. .. ya right 15 will get you 20...wow how time flyes.. i met a lot of people in holland who play church and are going to hell, and are full of devils.. How can you tell if some one might be full of devils ? you might ask! if they are going out lying cheating and stealing on a daily basis .. and think it is normal.. This could be a clue!! Naaa.. as Fred said .. it's ok ... and yes teaching in the public schools can be heart warming..

"Never fly off the handle when you know you're full of shit.

bill arvo

Small world.. the man i was training to fly paragliders has known bill arvo for about 30 years.. i told him obviously he lives a double life.. because just about every outside sales man i have worked with was fully engaged in thief and embesslment.. (except bill slonker, i think).
Yes i told him i knew about Bill Arvo.. because the sales embezzler i worked with always talked about him winning the "clock" sales award...And Bill Arvo knew all about the details of Bo Bjarno.. Except of course how 2 years earler i talked about it with Dick Mckennley when Tom Bannash and he were harassing the securtary to drum her out..
As i told him The Whole west coast was nothing more than a Den a Liers, Theves and Embezzlers.. and actually Bo Bjarno has better character that Tom Bannish. Bacause all of Bannash's Pet theves were stealing way over 10 thousand to as much as 30 thousand..

He did say Good People are hard to find .. which is why he was doing the set up work with his little company called "Test" i guess you guys owned 49 % of it for a while..

Any way... even funner... i ended up interviewing .. at Turner's company EETS II , or something like that.. where Tom Bannish is.. .

I thanked him for his time but told him that i couldn't work where Tom Bannask was employed.. Because in short it was such a horrable time working under him with all the different liers, theves and embezzlers, and that he bragged what a good lier he was, and every one would go along with what he said..
I don't need that working environment again..I found it rather unhealthy working with murders, liers and thieves.
But as the Bible says the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy.

good eating

I guess i was luckly that many people were up front when i was writing my thesis.. and broke the code of silence.. and i was surprised to find the "Clock" man .. from thermotron..an honest sales man is hard to come by. but i found it puzzling that he didn't know that most of his co-workers who i worked with didn't follow his policy..

Because the people i worked with under bannish mocked me behind my back for trying to live an honest life, and trying to do a good job.(they said it didn't matter what you did to anyone)
Dave durham the electrican called me "squeeky" (but was quick to put a blade in someone back)
It was pretty horriable working with such a group of back stabbers, liers, theves and embezzelers..decevers (enough to last a life time)
As Bill Wybenga in accounting once told me it is easy to get people to lie for you here.
I didn't know it was a planned business profile.. funny none of the business classes .. used that .. model..

..happy new year.

The Frog and the Princess
Once upon a time, a beautiful, independent, self assured princess happened upon a frog in a pond. The frog said to the princess, "I was once a handsome prince until an evil witch put a spell on me. One kiss from you and I will turn back into a prince and then we can marry, move into the castle with my mom and you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children and forever feel happy doing so."
That night, while the princess dined on frog legs, she kept laughing and saying, "I don't think so."

penuts

Hi Paul,
Happy New Year! You haven't said anything that's offended me so no apology necessary. It's hard for any of us to have the proper positive attitude right now.
I have never seen this severe of a drop in business. Going way back to "81 I remember that a large Boeing order literally kept us afloat for the year. I bet you remember that too.
We were holding our own but slowing until Sept.11 and then the bottom dropped out. It's extremely frustrating that the attack was such a terrible immediate human tragedy and also an unbelievable emotional and economic effect as well.
It looks as though you picked a good time to exit our industry. Do you find teaching rewarding? I'm sure there are frustrations but hopefully there are some rewards and success stories also.
There have been several times over the years that other of our friends have sought to come back to the industry that I have really not been able to decide if helping them to return was really doing them a favor or not. In retrospect I think that most were better off in the long run in another, more stable- less competitive industry.

Let's all have a better year!!

Subject: say something nice
"Hey, Nice Tie''
A man walks into a bar, sits down, and orders a drink. "Hey, nice tie!" comes out of nowhere. He looks up at the bartender to see if he had said anything, but since he was on the other side of the bar the man just ignores it. "Hey! Nice shirt!" The man looks up but, again, the bartender is engaged elsewhere. "Hey! Nice suit!" The man then calls the bartender over and asks him if he keeps talking to him.
"It's not me, it's the complimentary peanuts."

past 2 you

Hi Paul,
How are you? Are you still residing in Michigan? With this weather I can't see why any of us stick it out - oh yeah the $$$$. This industry is so well paid we can't afford to leave. You know better than that.
Things started to go slow 1 year ago and really got bad after Sept. 11. We've been holding our own but there is more used equipment on the market than the last 15 years combined. All of the start-up and telecommunication companies that were buying fast and furious last year are gone or at least selling this year. So it's another chapter in industry.
It is too bad about all of our colleagues that are being displaced but I guess it has to effect us as well as the rest of the country. In some cases changing industries is actually a favor.
Jim Roelofs is here but kicking back a little, we have tried to give him more responsibility several times and he says "No thanks". He's reached that stage where he realizes responsibility has more drawbacks that positives and is real comfortable where he is - smart. It amazes me how things repeat themselves and if you just pay attention to history you have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen next.
Hope things are well with you .
Tom P.

Subject: randy hertis ??? and
hello.. well i guess business has picked up.. because there is no "for sale" sign out side your building.. ha ha ..
i had spoke with National service manager Ron wiley a while back and he had said that randy hertis the michigan service dispatcher was no longer ther and i can't imagine he left by choice, or went far, so i was wondering where he was now?. Also he said that Doug mahn the vibration sales man was no longer working there.. i can't imagine him leaving .. he was the project manager on the ill fated litton project.. When i told litton that a project that size should have a project manager.. Thats when i found out that doug mahn was "the man.". ha ha .. good communication huh? .. But no loss because your company got the follow on contract.. But i understand you have Mr. Rouloffs there now. the replacement of Dick Mckinly.. funny "Curt"the sales guy he replaced bo bjarno with in San Jose .. said that the sales had to go around with a good grip on their ankles " to survive..
just keep smilling i guess.. and say yes sir!!
Thanks for this moment of your time...
